The Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition will host the Ohio & Erie Canalway Fishing Derby along the Ohio & Erie Canal at the Wilbeth Road Trailhead (392 W. Wilbeth Trailhead) on May 21 from 4-6 p.m. All Akron-area students in grades 3-4 are invited to this free fishing and environmental education event. This is an educational "hands-on" opportunity for inner-city, school-age children that teaches them a new hobby and the importance of environmental stewardship. The event includes refreshments, raffle prizes and interpretive programming. The organizers will provide all fishing equipment, bait and volunteers; and children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Space is limited to 120 students, so register soon.
