Student Voices - Always Climbing at Firestone CLC

Firestone scholar leaders who are members of Always Climbing sat on panels with other community leaders at the Akron Community Discussion on Education sponsored by the Akron NAACP on September 29 at House 330. Scholar leaders shared their unique perspectives and insights on the purpose of education, what works in education and the conditions for learning. The scholars used their voices to authentically answer questions from panel facilitators and the audience of approximately 100 community leaders. The goal of the discussion was to help voters gain an understanding of the dynamics in schools and what challenges prospective Akron Public Schools board members may face. A special thank-you to school counselor and founder of Always Climbing, Bryce Harris, for his help with recruiting and supporting scholars at the event!
