The Akron Public Schools Board of Education voted 6-1 to select C. Michael Robinson Jr. as its next superintendent. Robinson works now in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools in Louisiana as the district’s chief academic officer.
The special session began with final interviews with the candidates including Interim Superintendent Mary Outley.
Six hours later, and following the 6-1 vote, another vote was taken to show consensus for Robinson. The vote was 7-0 in favor. So, the board will now work to negotiate a contract with Robinson.
Upon receiving the news, Robinson said, “I am extremely pleased and humbly honored to be joining the Akron Public Schools family. Together, with the students, staff, parents and community, we will take APS to new heights, and I’m very excited to be a part of this journey."
