Superintendent's Book Club Readers Recognized

At the Akron Public Schools Board of Education meeting March 11, 2024, Supt. Dr. Michael Robinson recognized APS scholars who are investing their time in reading as part of his book club.
Dr. Robinson read the names of February’s top readers:
- Elementary school: Vince Ferrise, Resnik CLC, read 16 books
- Middle school: Non Aong, sixth grade, STEM Middle School, read nine books as did sixth-graders from Innes CLC - Kayden Bucklew, Xaniyah Holland and Bentlee Lyons, along with seventh-grader Gavin Slosson
- High school: Kristen Simmons, 10th-grader, Garfield CLC, top reader in high school, read eight books.
The superintendent also gave recognition to schools with the highest numbers of books read:
- Bridges Learning Center scholars lead all elementary schools with 146 books.
- In middle school, STEM scholars read 130 books.
- For high school, North tallied 115 books.
