The Jim Chenot Attitude for Gratitude Scholarship Awarded
- Akron Early College High School
ReAmi Douglas has been selected as the recipient of The Summit FM's 2025 Jim Chenot Attitude for Gratitude Scholarship.
ReAmi's profound reflection that "I realized that my sensitivity was not the source of my pain, but instead a tool for understanding and compassion" deeply resonated with our selection committee. This insightful perspective not only exemplifies the spirit and purpose of this scholarship but also beautifully embodies the values that our friend and co-worker Jim Chenot stood for throughout his life.
The Summit FM established this scholarship to honor those who have faced significant challenges to their well-being and emerged with both strength and gratitude. Among many worthy applicants from Akron Public Schools, ReAmi's authentic voice and thoughtful perspective truly stood out.
The scholarship funds will be distributed through the Akron Community Foundation to support ReAmi's educational journey and will apply directly toward tuition, books, or related fees at her chosen institute of higher education.
Tommy Bruno, General Manager of The Summit FM presented the scholarship to Remi at the APS BOE meeting on May 27.
