Akron Public Schools will use its annual allocation of Student Wellness and Success Funds on physical and mental health services for its scholars.
The physical health services we are providing is to continue to employ adaptive physical education teachers. We provide adaptive physical education to our special needs population so that these scholars can participate in physical education programs at their own level and can be integrated into the regular education program when possible.
The mental health services we are providing is to continue to employ a staff of school psychologists and a Child Study Office. They work with our scholars to identify and address learning and behavior problems that interfere with school success and evaluate eligibility for special education services. This supports our scholars’ social, emotional, mental and behavioral health.
