Choose Your Enrollment Path

Whether you're new to Akron Public Schools, already enrolled, or starting kindergarten or Pre-K this fall, pick the path that matches your family to get started right away.

New to Akron Public Schools

Never attended Akron Public Schools, or withdrew and are coming back? Start a new online registration and find your scholar’s assigned school before you begin the form.

Already Enrolled in APS

If your student already attends APS, keep contact and health information current every year through Home Access Center, even if nothing has changed since last year.

Starting Kindergarten or Pre-K

Starting school for the first time this fall? Kindergarten requires your child to turn 5 by Aug. 31; Pre-K requires age 4 by Aug. 31 and potty-training readiness.

Families wishing to enroll in person may visit any Akron Public Schools building or the district Engagement Center during normal business hours:

Three Steps to Enroll Online

Complete these three quick steps to enroll your student online. Finding your school zone and gathering your required documents ahead of time will make the application fast and easy.

Step 1: Check Your Zone

Enter your home address into our school locator tool to find your child’s assigned neighborhood school before you start the online registration form.

Step 2: Gather Your Documents

Collect your child's birth certificate and immunization record, a parent or guardian photo ID, and two documents proving residency. See the Required Documents checklist below for the full list. You will be prompted to upload these documents before submitting your online form.

Step 3: Register Online

Create an account, complete every required field on the online form, upload your documents, and sign electronically to finish your child's enrollment.

Student Birth and Health Records

You'll need your child's official birth certificate and a current immunization record on hand before you start filling out the online registration form.

Parent or Guardian Photo ID

A valid, current photo ID for the parent or guardian completing the enrollment is required so we can verify your identity during registration.

Two Proofs of Residency

Provide two official documents showing your name, address, and a current date: a utility bill, lease agreement, bank statement, pay stub, or postal change of address. Junk mail is not accepted.

If They Apply to Your Family

Provide custody papers if there's been a divorce or custody arrangement involving your child, plus any current IEP or ETR issued by another school or district.

Open Enrollment 2027-28
