Why STEM High School?

Akron Public Schools provides a stellar STEM high school academic program for students. STEM High School prepares students to enter STEM-related majors and career fields through real-world experiences and problem-based learning with access to classes at The University of Akron.

Be Innovative!

An open enrollment application is required. There are no additional application requirements. NIHF STEM Middle School students are automatically enrolled, and other spots are filled via lottery.

Before You Apply

Before you apply, make sure you have the following required enrollment documents:

If your child does not currently attend Akron Public Schools:

Student’s proof of birth
Student’s immunization record
Parent/guardian photo ID
Two proof-of-residency documents for the parent/guardian (proof of residency is any "official" mail coming to the parent/guardian's address that includes their name, address and a current date).
- The first proof of residence must be one of the following:
  - Utility bill (within 60 days)
  - Lease/rental agreement
  - Home sales agreement
- The second proof of residence can include any of the following:
  - Bank statement
  - Personal bill
  - Postal change of address
  - Current pay stub
  - Local, state or federal document
- **Please note that "junk" mail will not be accepted.
Custody papers (if applicable)
Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Evaluation Team Report (ETR) (if applicable)
