APS Family & Community Engagement Opportunities
APS's Family Engagement builds school and community-based networks to engage families to support children's learning. We believe in creating safe, welcoming learning environments at school and at home. As partners, we can better develop and strengthen school connections with families. We are also committed to working with community partners to assist families and create opportunities for student success.
Family Academies
Family Academies are school- and community-based programs designed to bring families together to share information and ideas that help us build a strong relationship between our families, our school and our community to improve our child’s education.

Family Resource Centers
Family Resource Centers are designed to help families and students address non-academic challenges, which may impact a student’s ability to learn. Their convenient locations inside or near APS buildings provide families, students and community members with connections to health and social services, community resources, referrals and more.
Family Resource Center sites include:
Family Liaisons
Family liaisons are APS employees who help build cooperative working relationships between families and school personnel. They help empower and encourage families to partner with the school and become active participants in the education of their children.
Liaison Initiatives
- Family Academies -- school-based programs designed to bring families together to learn about local resources; get information about school programs, academic initiatives and education requirements; build relationships with school staff; and collaborate and interact with other parents and caregivers.
- Attendance Outreach -- family liaisons work with school staff to connect with families to decrease chronic absence for students identified at-risk for failure due to absence as defined by House Bill 410. See the Every Student, Every Day Community Toolkit to learn how you can help reduce chronic absence!
