Akron Public Schools reminds all secondary students that all middle and high schools this year, with the exception of Akron Early College, will require students' cell phones be stowed during the day in a Yondr Pouch provided by the district.

 

APS field-tested this process last year and found it to be quite effective at limiting in-school distractions and promoting more communication among students.

 

As students arrive, they must place their phone in a Yondr Pouch which will then be locked for the day. At the end of the day, as they prepare to exit the building, unlocking devices are available for them to use and retrieve their phones for the remainder of the day.
