The Akron School Board meeting of February 12, 2018, featured Jacob Goodspeed leading the board in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jacob is in fifth grade at Ritzman CLC. He's been there since kindergarten and is a respected student who shows great leadership qualities.

Jacob is currently a dedicated safety patrol member and helps with students and traffic. Jacob also has been involved in the bowling program, Good News Club, school newspaper and the May Festival. He has been on either the Honor Roll or Merit Roll every grading period!

Outside of school, Jacob loves to hang out with his new dog, Apollo, and his family. He plays baseball and video games. He has a great love of music; in fact, his favorite class at school is music.

Jacob’s current fifth-grade teacher, Laurie Thompson, recently told us she enjoys having Jake in the classroom. "He makes my job so easy," she said. "He is a great worker and willing to keep trying new ideas and strategies until he gets it. He is willing to listen and be patient so I can reteach to him. I appreciate that I can rely on him to help others and still stay on task. He is very well mannered and shows respect to everyone, and that is hard to do sometimes. He displays so many great qualities as a young man that I can't wait to hear about the awesome things he will do in the future."

Thank you for leading the Pledge, Jacob!
