The Soap Box Derby is holding a STEM Summer Camp for children ages 9-12 June 11-15 or June 18-22, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily. The cost is $205. Activities include constructing a Soap Box Derby car and racing it down the Derby Downs track daily; making friends; designing, building, racing and taking home a mini Soap Box Derby car; enjoying in a Friday race day and awards ceremony (and inviting friends and family); and participating in a variety of fun and hands-on STEM projects. All Sports Camp is offering an opportunity for children ages 5-13 to participate in summer camp June 11-August 10. Camp locations are in Green and Cuyahoga Falls/Stow; and activities include basketball, baseball, football, soccer, swimming, kickball, hiking, softball, running exercises, volleyball, tennis, track and field, four square, lacrosse, and slip ‘n’ slide. There is a 7:1 camper-to-counselor ratio, free before- and after-care service, and 1-3 days/week options; hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information and pricing, download the camp brochure. Akron Public Schools and Akron After School are sponsoring four (4) free Mad Science Camps for students in grades 2-6. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are provided daily. Campers will receive a Mad Science Camp T-shirt as well as other take-home items. Space is limited, so please register early (deadline is May 25). A Midsummer Night's Dream (ages 8-14) will be held June 18-29 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.), Summit Artspace (140 E. Market St., Akron) - tuition is $175.

Lions & Tigers & Bears. OH MY! (ages 8-13) will be held July 9-13 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; extended hours available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.), The Spicy Lamb Farm (6560 Akron Peninsula Road, Peninsula) OR July 23-27 (ages 5-10), the Center for Inner Peace (239 Stow Ave., Cuyahoga Falls) - tuition $125 (extended hours $150).

Who wants to learn to ride a bike? If you would, the Autism Society is offering a camp at the Copley High School auxiliary gym July 9-13 to learn how to ride a two-wheel bicycle independently without training wheels. Riders eight years old to adults are welcome, have a diagnosed disability, weight less than 220 pounds, and be able to step side-to-side and walk without assistance. Participants will attend the same 75-minute session each day of the camp; times are 8:30 a.m., 10:05 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:35 p.m. Registration is available now >>. Volunteers are also needed to help riders learn balance and provide support. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old, able to walk fast or jog for 75 minutes with short breaks, commit for a five-day session time (alternative scheduled will be considered), and attend an orientation meeting on July 8 at 4 p.m. Volunteer here >>.
