Project RISE hosted its first annual Halloween event, held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Approximately 400 people enjoyed the festivities for both sheltered and "doubled up" families. The evening included dinner and snacks, candy, face painting, spooky storytelling music and information tables (Akron Main Library, Cuyahoga Valley National Park Service, SOS, Lisa Mansfield for the Akron Board of Education, Hope & Healing Center, Akron Children's Hospital, The University of Akron, AMHA, AIIA, Proyecto Raices, North Hiill Boy Scouts and Community Action Head Start). Children and Books provided new books, and DJ Remark thrilled the children with spooky stories. The church is the home of DLM food and resources, a food pantry and resource room; and the event was planned so that families in attendance would be able to obtain groceries and other resources.
