"Rock the Block" Event

Celebrating Healthy Families and Infant Vitality

Image of Rock the Block flierMayor Dan Horrigan and community partners will host a "Rock the Block" event September 7 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Stoner Hawkins Park (South Hawkins Avenue between Stoner and Slosson streets). The event celebrates the lives of the children in our community and encourages future parents to enroll in programs that assist mothers during their pregnancies. Activities include a DJ, a "touch a truck" demonstration with city and county safety forces, free haircuts, face painting, drumming and dance performances from community groups, and much more. Admission and all activities are free and open to the public, including a free healthy meal provided by the City of Akron, Mustard Seed Market & Cafe, and Sam's Club.In the event of rain, the event will be held at Lawton Street Community Center, 1225 Lawton St.
