Image of APS LogoAkron Public Schools announced today its program, that has been keeping up with the daily nutritional needs of Akron children since school buildings were closed three weeks ago, will take a break during the district's upcoming spring break, April 13-17.

"That does not mean, however, children will have nowhere to go to receive meals," said Superintendent David W. James, Ed.D. "Next week, we will be providing our families with a list of sites in Akron where children will be able to go to get food."

James added, in a message to families, "With our spring break scheduled to begin after online classes Thursday, April 9, we encourage all students and staff to take time away to slow down, recharge and spend time with family. Our child nutrition staff will use this time to recharge and work to provide even better service when we resume Monday, April 20."

To date, Akron Public Schools has distributed 128,400 meals in the 11 days of this program.
