The Akron Community Foundation earlier this month unveiled a record amount of quarterly grants — nearly $8.6 million total.
The grants include $594,500 in competitive health and human services grants selected by the foundation's Community Investment Committee, as well as two off-cycle education and arts and culture grants, according to a news release.
Among the health and human services grants was $12,500 to the Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy to expand food access programs at Summit County farmers markets in an effort to relieve increased food insecurity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
