For about two hours Thursday afternoon, a wide range of students at Akron’s Kenmore-Garfield High School became one big silly group of teenagers.
They laughed.
They danced.
And they all had fun.
They bonded over music that filled the school’s old gymnasium at a Valentine’s Day dance.
Students in the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) program at the school continued a tradition that dates back more than a decade and put on a dance for fellow classmates with disabilities.
Julie Garcia, a DECA teacher, said it began as a one-time thing but has grown into something much bigger.
