The board agreed in a unanimous vote to proceed with creating a new position -- chief of leadership and learning/assistant superintendent. Fowler Mack said she intends to appoint someone within weeks.

The chief of leadership will join with current Chief of Academics Ellen McWilliams-Woods, Ph.D., as assistant superintendents, according to Fowler Mack. The superintendent expressed to the board the need to begin fortifying the administrative structure, following an organizational audit in the coming year but, at the same time, being as “lean” as possible.

“We will always be responsible,” she told the board, “so our resources can touch our students as much as possible.”
