The report contains challenges that Akron youth face along with recommended solutions for the challenges. The next step is that scholars will have the opportunity to work with Akron city officials to implement the recommendations in the report.

That afternoon at the administration building, high school staff members who serve as scholar voice building leadership advisers attended a training facilitated by the United States Department of Justice. The goal of the training was for the advisers to learn the School-Student Problem Identification and Resolution of Issues Together (SPIRIT) Technique.

The interactive engaging technique will be used with the 15-member scholar building leadership teams in all high school buildings. The scholar voice teams will use the technique to select one challenge in their buildings and develop and implement scholar-led action steps to address the challenge.

The scholar-led teams will begin meeting second semester. A special thank-you to the advisers for their time and commitment!
