Kenmore-Garfield High School Principal Kathryn Rodocker calmly said, "The water wasn't really too bad." Not for seals and polar bears it wasn't. But, with outdoor temperatures at 20 degrees, her gritty squad raised 174% of its goal for more than $2,600 to donate to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. They did it by taking part in the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Portage Lakes Saturday and telling us afterward they had a "wonderful time." It takes special people to dive into frigid water to help others. We have a great many such people at Akron Public Schools.
