The project has been underway since the previous Case Elementary building was at the corner of Garman Road and McDowell Avenue (prior to the construction of Case CLC).
Principal Matthew Doslak at Case CLC tells us, "This is a project that was planned in large part to make a tangible connection between learning in the classroom and real-life experiences, especially in terms of our International Baccalaureate work/units."
He added that the greenouse project has been funded by several large donations, multiple grants and Case's PTA; the PTA's biggest fundraiser each year for the event has been Race for Case (1 mile walk/5K run) which is going on its 11th year.
Students took part in the groundbreaking Friday, March 24, at Case.
