First, APS staff who serve as advisers for the teams were trained in the SPIRIT Day process by the United States Department of Justice. Second, each team held a SPIRIT Day and identified one challenge in their buildings to address. Third, teams participated in The Voice Part I at 10 N. Main St. During the event, scholars speed-interviewed community organizations and APS leaders.

The scholar teams hired community organizations and partnered with APS leaders to help them address the identified challenge in their buildings. During The Voice Part II, teams participated in fun, hands-on leadership development activities including sharing their progress with Interim Superintendent Mary Outley and Secondary Principal Supervisor Larry Johnson. A special thank-you to the Akron Children's Museum.
