The Buchtel CLC 6-8 National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony was May 10 in the Buchtel Auditorium. NJHS president, eight-grader Terrence Decatur-Boyd, presided over the student-led event. Dr. Kiena Hughley, seventh-grade principal, served as the keynote speaker. Students and parents enjoyed her motivating speech that encouraged students to continue to strive for excellence. During the induction ceremony, students signed the historic NJHS register from Perkins Middle School that dates back to 2005. Mrs. Rochelle Brown Hall, the eighth-grade principal, provided final remarks. She created an NJHS acronym to motivate the students:
N - now it is time to focus
J - just imagine what you can accomplish
H - head of your class academically and in all areas
S - show excellence in all you do.
The event was coordinated by school counselor Jennifer Mitchell.
