Board President N. J. Akbar, Ph.D., spoke on behalf of the board in thanking Pendleton for his service, saying, “Ryan Pendleton has served the district well for the last eight years, and the board is appreciative of his agreeing to provide us with continuing service as treasurer-of-record until the end of the year. He has helped the district and community understand our complex finances in consumable formats. This is an essential component that is needed for a public body to remain transparent and accountable to the families we serve.”

The OSBA has posted the vacancy and the open search announcement, with an accompanying brochure, across the nation. It will be accepting applications until October 14. The board considers the treasurer its strategic thought partner and leader when it deals with the district’s financial positioning. The position collaborates with the superintendent on setting financial priorities by providing forecast, projections based on strategic assumptions, advice and expertise.

After a thorough process of advertising, staff and community input and professional screenings, the board will interview candidates and conduct extensive reference checks. The board hopes to name its next treasurer yet this fall.

OSBA provides a variety of assistance to the more than 700 boards of education in Ohio that are its members. OSBA is in its 68th year of service to public education and represents the state's public school board members. The association has assisted in more than 1,000 superintendent and treasurer searches.
