We recognize Akron Early College High School (AECHS) for its Five Star rating in ALL
categories in the State Report Card issued last week.
Congratulations to scholars, faculty, staff and Principal Thomas O’Neil for this
achievement. (
See this link for our report card breakdown.)
Not only did the school earn a top rating, it is also the highest performing
high school in Summit County and is ranked 20th among all 1,152 public high
schools in Ohio.
Principal O’Neil wrote his scholars to say, “What really makes this an admirable
achievement is that while most other Summit County schools were face-to-face during
the 2021-22 school year, we were remote.” O’Neil continued, saying, “Our staff,
families and students were all committed during that difficult time and managed to keep
learning, keep working and keep moving forward. Our efforts paid off.”
We commend Mr. O’Neil for his ongoing leadership at this remarkable school and for
this extraordinary achievement.
He concluded his message to scholars with, “You should all be very proud of yourselves
for this outstanding team effort. Parents/guardians, staff and students all working
together for the same goal. We do the little things so that we can accomplish the big
things … I might have to put that on a T-shirt … I am very proud of each of you, and I am
proud of our school. AECHS!!!”
Well done!
