The Akron Children’s Museum on Tuesday celebrated the completion of its 3,000-square-foot expansion in downtown Akron.
The expansion was funded by a $650,000 capital campaign and brings the museum footprint to 10,000 square feet. The additional space includes a new exhibit workshop, a recording studio, exhibit space, a sensory room, two meeting/party rooms, an office and a nursing/changing room. All of the exhibits align with the museum’s core pillars of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); health and wellness; arts and culture; and civic and community engagement. The addition will allow the museum to increase its capacity and provide interactive and informational learning for children, families and community members.
