The Firestone High School Class of 1972 50th reunion, to be held Sept. 9-10 at the Highland Theater in West Akron and Dusty’s Landing in Coventry, is hoping to raise $20,000 for the Save The Music Foundation.

According to its website, the Save The Music Foundation is a national nonprofit that partners with public schools to donate grants for new musical instruments, technology, equipment and resources for music teachers.

Akron Public Schools Director of Fine Arts Dawn Wilson said five APS elementary buildings — Helen Arnold Community Learning Center (CLC), Crouse CLC, Firestone Park Elementary, Glover CLC and Voris CLC — have been selected as recipients of Save The Music grants through the Firestone Class of ’72 Reunion effort.
