Akron Public Schools Garfield Army JROTC competed in a drill meet with four high schools including Perry High School, Youngstown East and host Canton McKinley High School recently. Garfield's varsity color guard earned first place under the command of Cadet Isabella Baughman along with team members Jonathan Stanevich, Sadie Feagain and Jamaree Wright. The varsity team are all second-year cadets and scored higher than the other schools whose members were third- and fourth-year cadets.
Garfield Army JROTC also finished first place in the four-team academic challenge competition led by Cadet Jonathan Stanevich along with team members Tyler Marr, Sadie Feagain, Isabella Baughman and Tymithee Miller. Next weekend, Garfield travels to Youngstown East to compete in a similar competition.
