Akron Public Schools will hold its inaugural Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Day at Ellet CLC (309 Woolf Ave.) on April 30 from 9:30-11 a.m. The event includes the Master of Ceremony's announcements, JROTC Color Guard, a Pass-in-Review ceremony, a JROTC Day proclamation, a "Cadet Challenge" competition (featuring academic, physical and marksmanship skills) among JROTC cadets and the presentation of the Superintendent's Cup to the winning JROTC unit. Akron is the only Ohio city to host all four major military JROTC programs (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps).
