Jennings Chess Club is all first-year team players. They took first place at the State of Ohio Chess Tournament at the IX Center this past weekend.
Coach Joanne Cook told us this: "An entire weekend of chess. Including 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday! When our high school players are finished, we’re off to eat at Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse for hibachi. Another great APS team!"
Seventh-grade Jennings CLC student Smile Adhikari came in second place in his division at the State of Ohio chess tournament!
Smile Adhikari, Xyrow Berras, Kaw Bluet, Simon Chuwan, Kyron Gilmer, Darrien King, Dorrean King, Cesar Pinones, Nishant Rai, Alan Rai, Suman Sangdhan, Frederick Turner and Isaiah Watkins won first place in the reserve division of the State of Ohio Middle School and High School Chess Tournament.
Our Akron Early College players came in fourth place in the High School Division: Phat Ngo, Shaknil Garung and Rameshg Chetri (STEM)
Our Harris-Jackson CLC player, Ziar Najeeb, tied for first place in The Buckeye Elementary Open!
