Scholars attended the mayoral debate luncheon April 5 at Quaker Square in partnership with The University of Akron Bliss Institute. The partnership began with scholars attending the Day of Discourse at The University of Akron. During the Day of Discourse, they learned about the debate process as it pertains to the Ohio gubernatorial race. Scholars crafted questions for gubernatorial candidates. The Bliss Institute submitted the questions to the candidates' campaigns.
Akron Youth Decides was the second event facilitated by The Bliss Institute. This provided the opportunity to review the city of Akron's mayoral poll results, discuss their own issue concerns and develop questions they would like the mayoral candidates to answer. The culminating activity was scholars attending the mayoral debate luncheon and hearing the candidates answer their questions!
