To that end, APS and two other Ohio school districts were part of the Ohio Partnership Schools Network Professional Learning Session recently where they were asked to deliver a presentation on family engagement.

Mason CLC had the opportunity to share its work and success toward making the Akron elementary school more welcoming to students and families. Principal Renee Kochis and Dean of Students Dr. Keziah Steurer described the school's Action Team for Partnership (ATP) that encourages and plans family engagement goals, how to get there and what successes it has witnessed.

A significant part of Mason's success has been from an awareness campaign on social media using photography to tell daily stories from school. These posts are shared by the district on its sites and are receiving a great deal of attention for Mason CLC.

The presentation was part of the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) which is supported by Johns Hopkins University, Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center, and the Ohio State Support Team. Akron Public Schools is in its first year of the program with NNPS.
