For our families with students at King CLC, and those motorists who otherwise use Memorial Parkway for travel, please note the work that is going to begin soon that will affect all traffic around the school through early April. Keep in mind, the work that is being done is at the bottom of the hill but will affect all traffic using Memorial Parkway.
Crews begin sewer work that will occupy the north side of the Memorial Parkway/Hickory Street intersection at the bottom of Memorial Parkway hill. The north side is the side near the dog park and the park trailhead.
Beginning Monday, February 21, that side of the road will close at this intersection. The primary detour route for westbound traffic (going from the bottom of the hill toward King) will have the majority of the Tallmadge Avenue traffic divert back at North Main Street and go to North High Street, then Market Street and Merriman Road back to Memorial Pkwy.
The secondary detour route, mainly for those who would be coming from Cuyahoga Street and Cuyahoga Falls Avenue, will be Cuyahoga Street to North Howard Street to West North Street, then West Market Street to Merriman Road to Memorial Pkwy.
Beginning the second week of March, the south side of the street will also be closed. At that time, no traffic will be able to get around the work zone.
So, those wishing to go east on Memorial Parkway (down the hill) will instead be detoured first along Merriman, then Market, to North Broadway to North Main and then to Tallmadge Avenue.
For our families who use Royal Avenue alongside King CLC, there will be a secondary detour route that will use Aqueduct to West Market where the traffic will then continue along the main detour route toward Broadway.
For anyone using Hickory Street, you will need to head south to West North Street to get around the project.
