
The Akron Public Schools’ Board of Education is seeking to fill an open position on the Board due to a recent resignation. The seven-member APS BOE is the official body representing the citizens of Akron on all matters of public education. It is non-partisan and non-sectarian. Its duties include, but are not limited to, determining needs and priorities of the school system, allocating resources within the school system, voting on policy issues and evaluating the overall performance of the school system. Its members are elected at-large for four-year terms. The chosen candidate will fulfill the balance of the term for this position, which is through 12/31/2023. The Board meets the second and fourth Monday of every month.
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, a citizen of the United States and currently reside within the district borders of Akron Public Schools. Interested individuals are asked to send a current resumé and letter of interest to Todd Adkins, Interim Treasurer, at
