Dear Akron Public Schools:
Akron Energy Systems handed out 300+ backpacks filled with school supplies from the list that was provided by APS. The afternoon provided fun and excitement with several amusement games that included a carnival-style action area and a 62’ obstacle course. We also had free haircuts, a nail salon for the girls and a craft station. The Akron Fire department provided a tour of a fire truck; and several of our volunteers were grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs, making fresh popcorn, and serving ice cream bars for the families who attended.
In the end, we were able to host more than 800 people with a great festival event at the Joy Park Community Center.
