This is a three-week program that runs July 18 through Aug. 5. Participation in the program is free, but registration is required by July 8 or earlier due to limited capacity. Students also must be registered for kindergarten with Akron Public Schools.

Nearly 500 children have participated in the summer program since 2009, with more than 98 percent promoted to first grade on time and 100 percent reaching first-grade readiness in the past seven years.
