These are not voting positions but are designed for students to express themselves on behalf of their fellow students. Along the way, student board members learn valuable leadership skills.

At the Monday, January 9, 2023, meeting, East CLC's representative to the board, Cochise Griffin, spoke from prepared remarks to talk about the importance of athletics to students. An outstanding member of the Dragon football team, Griffin asked the board to make greater investments in athletics to give more students a chance to experience competition and team building. It builds character, and as he expressed to the board, students who participate in sports do better in the classroom and have fewer problems getting along with others.

Griffin made a special point to tell the group how happy he was that school was back in session and that things are "back to normal."

Kudos to Cochise for his leadership and scholarship.
