North Wrestlers are Outstanding

North High School wrestlers competed in the sectional tournament at Austintown-Fitch High School Saturday, and each and every member contributed to the Vikings having an outstanding team showing.

Those contributing to this effort were: Dev Bhujel. Dipesh Chuwan, Moris Corbitt, Ashik Magar, Athit Rai, Vaskar Subba and Cory Swauger.

Those making it to the podium were: Prajwal Rai – sixth place; and Sashigen Subba – sixth place.

Representing North as a District alternate was: Avinash Mongar, fifth place.

Representing the Vikings as a District Qualifer was: Elijah Gervins, third place.

And wrestling what was arguably the best tournament of his career was district qualifier: Sanjil Magar, second place.

North's Athletic Director Carrie Stewart told us, "It was really nice to see that much black and yellow and hear Akron North repeated over and over! Our qualifiers and alternates will travel to Hoover High School this Friday at noon to start the district tournament which runs through Saturday evening."

Carrie added, "And I have included one last picture that really shows the attitude of the team and just what a great group they are. It is about 11.5 hours after the bus pulled out of North, we are tired, we are hungry and, honestly, we probably smell but have become nose-blind to the odors. Some of them have been bloodied, disappointed, and seen their seasons and even careers come to an end - but they stopped as a group for pictures just for the memories of the event. They really do make me proud to be a Viking."
