Buchtel CLC Middle School FCCLA Chapter Service Project Display and Oral Presentation got Gold at the State Leadership Conference that took place April 28-29. Gold is the highest achievement a competing team can get at state level. The Chapter developed and implemented an in-depth service project that makes a worthwhile contribution to families, school and the Akron community. The students addressed the homelessness situation in Akron and figured a way to help. They made scarves, plastic blankets and care packages. The care packages will be donated to Project Rise, and the blankets will go to the Haven of Rest. Students used Family and Consumer Sciences content and skills to address and take action on this community need. By the way, Buchtel was the only APS middle school to compete! Teddy Mwonyonyi Nantambi is the instructor. Congratulations.
FCCLA members include Aniyah Higgins, Brooklynn Harrison, Isaiah Jeffrey, Jaden Jacobs and Trinity Brunson.
