Akron Public Schools student representatives to our board were actively engaged in another APS Leadership Summit this week. The goal of the summit is to provide student board members with enhanced communication skills so they may effectively support the board by serving as the student voice for all Akron Public Schools Scholars.
What students learned:
- How to talk to a business partner
- How to dress when meeting a business partner
- Do's and Don'ts of table etiquette
- What to know to network effectively
- How to ask/answer questions
- Better understanding of one's presence
- How and when to extend a handshake
- Organize a formal presentation for maximum buy-in and impact
A very special thank-you to Superintendent Christine Fowler Mack for attending and sharing her heartfelt advice on leadership. Also, a special thank-you to Dan Rambler for discussing school safety and answering students' questions.
The student board looks forward to the continued relationship with the elected board!
