The Lady Vikings played a tough game against the Springfield Spartans in front of a spirited home crowd Thursday night. Big thanks to Coach Emily, Jaimee Merrell and Coach Erika for helping to make the evening a success. Seniors Rachel Masezerano and Aayusha Subba were recognized at halftime. Aayusha finished her career the same way she started it -- by scoring the last basket of the game. Aayusha has the distinction of scoring in every game that she has ever played and had six points on the night.
The video can be seen here >>. Rachel was also recognized for the contribution she has made as a leader, example and role model. She has won awards recognizing these outstanding characteristics and was the recipient of the Outstanding Teammate Award.
In an effort to increase school participation and foster school spirit, the Locker Room Experience team gave away game tickets. At half-time, the LRE team drew tickets for students to receive spirit-wear prizes. Another big thank-you to Jason Halverson who drew tickets, coordinated music and slowed that clock down to assist Aayusha with the buzzer beater.
And, finally, a shout-out to The University of Akron Women's Soccer team who showed up (with signs!) to support our seniors at their final home game and the entire Lady Vikings team.
The boys' basketball team will recognize their seniors tonight, Friday, at 5:30 p.m. against John Marshall, and the wrestling team will have senior night Wednesday, Feb. 15, against Garfield and Columbiana. Students will be able to receive tickets to both of those events as well.
