District homeless liaison Shannan Carino was named an ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award finalist at the 2018 ATHENA Leadership Awards Banquet. The award is inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment. Ms. Carino's recognition was based on her demonstration of excellence, creativity and initiative in her profession; the provision of valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in the community; and the active assistance to women in achieving their full leadership potential. She also manages intakes as well as academic advocates (a new Project RISE program).

in addition, Project RISE was awarded the McKinney-Vento Program Award for Excellence from the Ohio Department of Education, a recognition of outstanding efforts in service to McKinney-Vento families and excellent parent and family engagement in particular.
